Common questions
Is Pincite free?
Yes. Pincite is free to use: every feature, no card, and no cap on how much you generate. If that ever changes, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before it takes effect, which is what clause 20.2 of the Terms commits us to.
Do I need an account?
You need a free account to use the citation generator itself. The OSCOLA Guides, Document Index and Abbreviations Index are open to everyone, signed in or not.
Does Pincite use AI?
No. Pincite is deterministic, so the same input produces the same citation every time. That is the whole point: you only have to check a citation type once, rather than every time you use it. The reasoning is set out on the About page.
A citation doesn’t look right. What should I do?
Please tell us. It helps to include what you typed, what Pincite produced, and what you expected instead. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it straight away. As with any referencing tool, check your finished work against the official OSCOLA (5th edition).
I can’t sign in.
Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page and we will email you a link to set a new one. If it hasn’t arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then write to us.
How do I delete my account?
From the Account tab in your settings. You can export your projects first, from the same tab. Deleting removes your account and projects from our live systems; clause 13.3 of the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what happens to backups afterwards.
